IN SHORT :

I’ve always said that if you’re going to be loud, you’d better have the mechanical cojones to back it up. Lamborghini has never had a problem with volume, but their latest creation—the Fenomeno Roadster—is a different breed of beast entirely. It’s an open-top, 1080-horsepower, V12 hybrid. It’s the kind of machine that makes you realize we’re living in a strange, hyper-caffeinated future, and yet, for the first time in a while, I’m not entirely against it.

They’re only building 15 of these, which puts it firmly in the "Few-Off" category. It’s an evolution of the Fenomeno Coupé, but chopping the roof off a car that produces over 1,000 CV is a move that borders on the demented. I love it.

The powertrain is the real story here. It’s a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12—a dying breed, and one we should be celebrating—mated to three electric motors. The result? 0-100 km/h in 2.4 seconds. That’s not acceleration; that’s a tectonic shift. Lamborghini claims a top speed of over 340 km/h. Try doing that with your hair flapping in the wind and tell me you aren’t feeling something.

But it’s not just about the numbers. The engineering here is genuinely fascinating, specifically the chassis. They’re using a "monofuselage" carbon-fiber structure, incorporating Forged Composite® in the front end. It’s light, it’s stiff, and it makes the car feel like a single, solid block of intent. They’ve even included manually adjustable racing shocks. Thank God for that. I’m tired of "electronic dampers" deciding what the road surface feels like for me. If I want to spend three hours in the paddock with a wrench dialing in my compression settings, that’s my prerogative.

Design-wise, it’s pure Lambo. Sharp lines, hexagons everywhere you look, and an engine cover that gives the driver the visual illusion that the V12 is floating behind their head. It’s aerodynamic, too. They’ve added a spoiler to the windshield to keep the cabin from turning into a wind tunnel, and the rollover bars are integrated into the "Speedster" humps so elegantly you almost forget they’re there to save your life.

Is it a car for the purist? It’s a hybrid, which will ruffle the feathers of the "analog-only" crowd. But look at the specs: 9,250 rpm redline. 128 CV per liter. This isn't a soulless battery-cart. It’s an internal combustion engine that’s been given a shot of adrenaline by the electric motors to keep it relevant in a world that’s trying to move on.

It’s painted in Blu Cepheus with Rosso Mars accents—a nod to the colors of Bologna. It’s flashy, it’s excessive, and it costs more than the GDP of a small island nation. It’s the antithesis of everything I stand for in my dusty old barn. And yet, I can’t help but respect the engineering. It’s a phenomenal piece of theater.

Keep the shiny side up.
